[Online] Explore the art of Holocaust survivor Erich Lichtblau-Leskly, created while he was imprisoned within the Theresienstadt Ghetto. Illinois Holocaust Museum educator Meghan Gieseker tells the story behind these breathtaking illustrations, created as a tribute to ghetto residents and poignantly capturing the complications and ironies of life at Theresienstadt, an incarceration center for Central European Jews but also a stage where Nazi propaganda was filmed. Lichtblau-Leskly saved his artwork by cutting his drawings into pieces, then recreating them after liberation.Vernon Area Public Library
