Date: 6/17/2019
Start Time: 7:00 PM

Description:
The Library Book by Susan Orlean. On the morning of April 28, 1986, a fire alarm sounded in the Los Angeles Public Library. As the moments passed, the patrons and staff who had been cleared out of the building realized this was not the usual fire alarm. In The Library Book, Orlean chronicles the LAPL fire and its aftermath to showcase the larger, crucial role that libraries play in our lives.

Copies are available at the Adult Desk to Vernon Area Public Library cardholders beginning May 17.

This discussion is free and open to all; no library card is required. Registration is recommended. RSVP on Meetup or register online here, by telephone at 224-543-1485, or in person at any public service desk in the library.
