If your child struggles with organization, following directions, staying on task, or managing emotions, you’re not alone — these are all part of a set of brain skills called executive functioning. In this engaging and practical session, Dr. Colleen Steele will explain what executive functioning is and how it impacts behavior at home and in the classroom. Drawing from her professional expertise and lived experience as a person with ADHD, Dr. Steele will share a simple framework parents can use to support their child before, during, and after challenges arise. Learn how sleep, nutrition, and nervous system regulation impact these skills and what you can do about it. Walk away with actionable strategies and resources that can be used right away to bring more calm and connection to your home.
Dr. Colleen Steele is the founder of THRIVE Coaching & Consulting, a licensed Learning and Behavior Specialist, and a Board Certified Coach with over 20 years of experience helping students and families. She holds a Master’s Degree in Clinical Learning Disabilities from Northwestern University, a Doctorate in Organization Development and Change, and is completing a Master’s in Functional & Integrative Nutrition. As both an Executive Function Coach and a person with ADHD, Dr. Steele brings a unique blend of professional expertise and personal insight to her work. She coaches students to strengthen executive functioning skills and partners with parents to provide practical strategies that bring more calm, connection, and success at home and in the classroom.
