Program Description

Event Details

Green Card Youth Voices: Immigration Stories from Chicago Schools is a collection of personal essays written by 30 students coming from 19 different countries. The students attend three different Chicago-area high schools including Stevenson that reflect the heart and diversity of the city’s immigrant and refugee communities. Included in the collection are Venezuelans who escaped political and economic collapse, Ukrainians who fled war, and refugees from a Tanzanian camp seeking peace. These youth share honest reflections on their journeys, their dreams, and what it means to build a new life in an unfamiliar land.

Visit the exhibit of Green Card Youth Voices through the library during the month of March.

This program is part of MOSAIC, a premier series of cultural programs for adults. MOSAIC is made possible by the Foundation for the Vernon Area Public Library District with major support from the Goldstein Family Foundation.
