Program Description

Event Details

Former Illinois Congressman Adam Kinzinger discusses his bestselling memoir "Renegade," which captures one of the most transformative periods in recent history, and recounts his time in public service. From 2011-2022, Congressman Kinzinger served six terms in the United States House of Representatives, representing Illinois’ 16th Congressional District. Following the events of January 6, 2021, Kinzinger demonstrated an exceedingly rare loyalty to country over party. As one of only two Republicans on the January 6th Committee, Rep. Kinzinger stood against his own party in pursuit of democracy and justice.

In conversation with Steve Edwards, award-winning journalist and interviewer and former host of WBEZ's (Chicago's NPR station) Eight Forty-Eight and The Afternoon Shift. Edwards also helped launch and lead the University of Chicago's Institute of Politics, a non-partisan program devoted to cultivating the next generation of public service leaders.

Presented in partnership with multiple Illinois libraries.
